Trek to the store

Like all the rest of the pre-storm shoppers, I hit the grocery store today, too. There were mobs of people. Just out of curiosity, I checked the milk section and laughed right out loud. There were only a few bottles left. The bread was similarly picked over. But I wasn’t in the market for either of those items. No. Instead I headed for the pet section where I grabbed a couple of bags of rawhide chews for Terry. If she is house bound for a couple of days, Mom will go nuts if Terry doesn’t have something with which to amuse herself. I also picked up a cheapo bag of kindling—just in case.
Amid my to-ing and fro-ing with my other errands, I noted that people are sort of hyper today. Everyone is out as if it’s the last day on earth and they’re driving like it’s their last chance. I dunno. Maybe people are so snow starved around here that they’re excitedly preparing to stay home and watch the snow fall with their glasses of milk and PBJs. It’s a pleasant thought to ponder. I’m still in the rain and freezing rain mindset. Although secretly hoping for a bl*zz*rd. Shhh.
Any minute now, I have to go out and tie down the woodpile. Guessing that 60 mile an hour gusts might cause some trouble if I don’t batten down the hatches. I’d hate to find drenched wood with the tarps blown two houses away. I forgot to buy rope today, so I’ll have to make do with the orange 50 ft extension cord. That’ll work.
The skies are starting to look menacing toward the south east. Guess something must be going on out there.
