snow mapLast night there was a sudden spike in excitement levels as the words Major Winter Storm came across the airwaves. For a brief moment visions of sleeping late on a snow day filled the lad’s head. And then the weather person said six inches. What is major about six inches? Disappointed groans ensued.

Apparently the snow gods didn’t like our attitude because this morning the weather person upped the snow amounts to 10 inches with the caveat—it could be a lot more. The spark of excitement was rekindled. But I remain somewhat skeptical. Looks like we’re right on the cusp of the 6 inch/10 inch line.

What I can say, with assurance, is that it’s going to do something tonight and tomorrow morning. That’s about as far out on that limb as I’m willing to crawl. The snow shovel is primed and if I don’t go buy bread and milk it’ll probably snow two feet. So I should probably stick with tradition. Ten inches is enough.
