After a mad flurry of activity, the lad has departed for his week at running camp up in Vermont. His best buddy and he took off about an hour ago. L has his own car and, in teenager parlance, ‘drives like a little old lady’. That suits me just fine. I had thought I’d be taking them both since L’s car was in the shop, but he got it back late yesterday. So it was all systems go. They loaded up with speakers, tunes, and enough Dr. Pepper to float a battleship.
L is also the voice of reason. The lad had insisted on taking his new camera. I told him it was an unwise idea—no way to lock it up while he was there and if it got stolen, well, too bad. It’s not insured and I won’t replace it, obviously. He still insisted and we were still arguing about it when L arrived. L came in and said, “Are you crazy? Leave it here. It’ll just get stolen.” So the lad left it here. Thanks, L! Heh. I have full permission to experiment with it this week.
Meanwhile, I’m babysitting my friend’s little Maltese dog this weekend. Maggie stays here occasionally, when her Mom travels. One more furry beast in the house hardly matters after a certain point. They all get along and she’s a lot of fun. Maggie likes having playmates. She’s going to be spoiled by the time her Mom comes to get her tomorrow night.
