rain

Yesterday afternoon I stopped by my favorite mechanic’s shop to inquire if he’d be able to fix my car sometime this week. Nothing major, I’m hoping, but these things have a tendency to put one in shock when the bill comes due. I’m primed for it. Anyway, he said sure, bring it in this morning before 8:00. So I did.

Yesterday when I made the appointment, the weather forecasters had just issued a fire watch and said conditions were ripe for fires because everything is so dry. Tuesday’s humidity, they said, would be exceptionally low (around 25%) with brisk breezes. So, I figured that meant a pleasant walk home and there was no need to arrange for a ride.

Imagine my delight this morning when I looked out the window and skies were pouring rain. Well, at least we don’t have to worry about fires or red flags or anything of that sort.

But I have to say that my pleasant walk home in the rain was...soggy.

Nevertheless, there were pluses. All the way along my route were the most delicious fragrances. Blooming trees and flowers graced the air with such sweet scents. And then there were the unmistakable aromas of fresh coffee and bacon. It was a symphony of wonderful smells and my mouth watered.

So, now I’m home with my own fresh brewed cup of coffee and I’m more or less dried off. All things considered, it wasn’t a bad way to start the day.
