The nose knows

This morning autumn pollen hit the air and the nose reacted right away. When I sneeze fifteen times in a row, that’s hay fever. Ragweed, probably, unless I’ve added something new to my autumn allergy repertoire. This is a little early for ragweed, but given the monsoons at the beginning of summer and the high heat and relative dryness for the second half, it’s not so surprising. Gardens all around look as if they are winding down for the season. That former green lushness is gone, replaced by a yellowish tint. There are already mums appearing on front porches and in gardens. That’s a sign of autumn. So, yay! Achoo!
