I have wanted to hang a couple of small bird feeders outside my kitchen window for the longest time. But there were no trees on which to hang them. And trees take a long time to grow. But I sure can grow sumacs. All I have to do is look at them and they grow a foot. So, I figured why not. Two years ago I let two of them grow in the back corner of the yard by the kitchen window and now I have something to hang the bird feeders on—and someplace for the birds to sit. I’m sure they will be wildly attractive to the squirrels, too. I may end up with more squirrel pictures than bird pictures. Whoever they are, I look forward to seeing the first visitors arrive.
