Good morning from the North Pole. Well, not really. We get more snow than the north pole. I’m assuming the veracity of this website, which claims to take its info from the National Weather Service. Interesting statistics from Cape Morris Jesup, Greenland (weather station closest to the North Pole). They may not get much snow, but a place that only sees a record high temperature of 16° makes me feel much better about my own circumstances. There is always something to be grateful for. Right?
In bizarre news, Russell Crowe was the target of an Al Qaeda kidnap plot. In 2001. My first thought was that he’s having paranoia on a grand scale. But maybe not. It’s a strange world.
And in other local news...a priest on Cape Cod is charged with embezzling a half a mil from his parish and filing false tax returns. I know there are good and decent priests out there, but, with this steady onslaught of bad news from the priestly ranks, it’s difficult not to look at a priest and wonder what his particular kink is. These are not good days for the Catholic Church. Around here, anyway.
In my own front and back yards...the driveway had a foot of snow in it this morning, except where it drifted to three feet. We had to shovel it out before departing for the day. School was delayed two hours. That was a good thing. It took almost an hour to shovel the stupid driveway and I had no desire to start shoveling at 5:30 this morning. Very happy that the school system reported early.
When I let Terry out this morning, she discovered that the thick layer of ice, under the new snow, made bounding around on top of the snow a snap. She bounded right out to the fence and over it. Instead of taking off for parts unknown, she bounded right back across and seemed to feel as if she’d done something very wrong. She came right straight back up onto the deck and asked to come in. It took a few minutes for my racing heart to calm down. Now that she knows she can do it and can think on it for a while, I’ll have to escort her outside on a leash so that she doesn’t try it again. Crap. This is getting personal now. I Want Spring To Hurry Up!
Oh yeah...two new skins for anyone interested. One is called Very Pink and it’s very pink. The other is called Periwinkle. It’s...periwinkle. Graphics compliments of Mandarin Design. Thanks Meg!
