We’re preparing for some serious weather here. Not sure yet whether it’ll be all rain or a combo of rain, sleet, and snow. Probably mostly rain of the torrential variety. (Maine and Vermont can expect a foot and a half of snow.) There’s a nor’easter coming and my favorite weatherman says it’s going to be a doozie. This one is likely to stall out over us for a couple of days with relentlessly high winds along with all the rain. All mariners are warned to be in port by early Sunday afternoon. To not do so might turn out to be a fatal mistake. Those are warnings that are taken seriously. We’ll probably draw in some guest vessels this weekend. Our port is deep and protected.

What this means is massive coastal damage and flooding. It also means driving sideways rain that manages to find ways into the house. With winds of near hurricane force anticipated, I’d just like my roof to stay on. It may be too much to ask that it doesn’t leak. Not much can withstand three days of high winds and torrential rains without a leak occurring someplace. I hate these storms and I’m glad they don’t happen too often. The last one of similar magnitude and duration was the Halloween nor’easter in 1991 and it was ugly.

In this case, I’d rather see snow. Which goes to show, the weather gods can’t please me nohow.

While out and about doing errands earlier, I stopped in at the store to pick up a few items. People are already stocking up on the essentials. I didn’t need to buy anything strictly essential. Well, except for toilet paper. Not because of the storm, but because I’ve been out for two days. But I guess TP truly is a popular storm item on top of the milk and the bread. Nearly every darned grocery cart in the store had enough TP to support a small army. The storm’s only gonna last three days, people!

Only...she says…

Shudder.
