A little while ago I went trotting out the back door in my bare feet to deposit a bag of kitty litter in the trash when I stepped on a giant garden slug. As soon as I did, I knew exactly what it was. I’ve seen a few around before. And I have to tell you, it was pretty darned gross. He’s definitely a goner.

Under better circumstances, they’re kind of interesting creatures. Almost pretty if you like that sort of thing. I’ve sat on the steps a time or two with the flashlight watching one make its way across the sidewalk. I’m never quite sure what to do with them. I’m not of a mind to kill them, yet in the odd year or so they’ve made an awful hash of my garden. As long as it’s just the occasional one, I suppose we can share space. Although, in this guy’s case, that’s a moot point now.
