Major winter storm posted for the east coast again. It’s a little too early to say what we’ll get, but we’re going to get something. That’s the way things go with these coastal storms. If it’s close to shore, we’ll get rain and sleet and freezing rain. If it’s off the coast a little bit, we’ll get hammered with lots of snow. Kind of a 50/50 proposition at the moment. Since we had two snow storms last week and I’m pretty darned sick of shoveling, rain would be just fine with me. But, naturally, saying that is sort of like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Weather gods don’t like being messed with.

Since I really am out of milk, I supposed I should go get some before the weather starts. Maybe I should also bring a load of wood in the house just in case it’s mostly ice and heavy wet snow.

This storm should just about put the snow over the top of the fence out in the back yard. Now that we’ve had several minor thaws and lots of refreezing, the snow has a thick crust and Terry ambles around out there on top of it. She’s been a very good girl for not stepping over the fence, which would be no more difficult for her than stepping over her little brother. The Jack Russell who lives next door comes over to the fence and communes with Terry. It’s funny to watch...he has to stand on his hind legs on his side of the fence while Terry has to reach way down to sniff his nose. I imagine that if the snow was equal heights on both sides of the fence, she’d be more inclined to step over. But the drop on the other side of the fence still inhibits her. Nevertheless, I watch her like a hawk while she’s out. Just in case.
