Two nights ago, I finally moved the HUGE living room television...oh...about three feet. It’s heavier than I remembered. It’s now taking up the entire sofa and it will stay there until the lad arrives home. Between the two of us, I think we’ll have the muscle required to remove it to another part of the house. I suppose my bedroom in case I’m tempted some hot sleepless night.
I removed all the wires hanging out of the back and hooked up my cute little LCD TV where the hulking one used to sit. Took me a few minutes to figure out where all the plugs belonged. Now I’m thinking it looks awfully lonely in its corner. It’s not much larger than a laptop’s screen. Makes my living room look a lot larger, though. The arrangement seems to work for me despite the tv looking a little lost. I thoroughly enjoy knowing that it’s only sucking up a third of the electricity.
But, unfortunately, it’s probably going to be a wash for the summer. My fetching red electric lawnmower eats rather a lot of electricity. What I save with the television in a week will probably be eaten by the lawnmower. Another reason why I hate grass. Another reason why I will probably get out my rotary reel mower and sharpen the blades.
Anyway, I sat down to see what was TiVo’ed last night and the night before. I have been recording American Idol all season and have not watched much of it. But I checked it out this week. My “watching” involved much fast forwarding. I found that I got most of the gist by stopping to hear what the judges said and then fast forwarding again. Well, I did stop to listen to Melinda and Jordin. The rest? Eh. And last night I fast forwarded all the way through to the end to see who got voted off. Except for the second or two when I backed up to see if that was really Bill Mahar in the audience. It was.
Most of the season, I’ve been depending on Alan’s weekly Idol recaps. I think that’s a good plan, too. He’s much more interesting and makes Idol fun without having to watch it. Thank you, Alan, for doing the hard work so we don’t have to.

Last night I also decided to go grocery shopping at 10:30. I’d been putting it off, but a spur of the moment impulse propelled me out the door. Turned out well. There was a new display in the store and I was ready.
My new pink garden clogs.
About five years ago I’d bought a pair of bright yellow ones and wore them out completely. Last year I was hoping the store would have a new display, but they didn’t. When I arrived at the store last night, the display was brand shiny new. I was probably the first customer. The display was so new, in fact, that the prices weren’t even affixed yet. So, I think I got a pretty sweet deal. The cashiers talked amongst themselves and decided to give them to me for $4.99. I know I paid at least three times that for my yellow ones. Anyway. I like ‘em lots. It was a toss up between the pink ones and the lime green ones. Today I’m glad the pink impulse won. They add flair to my grassless patch of dirt sand.
