What came over me?
Well, it’s not as if anything exciting is going on in my life recently. And I haven’t even paid attention to the news or the blogs for the past couple of days. I’m assuming everything is still holding together out there. I attribute it to cabin fever, a lot of rain, and having a cold.
I’ve been awfully busy coughing, hacking, sneezing, sniffling, croaking like a frog, etc. It’s sort of entertaining to see what new noise tomorrow will bring. Ah well. I must be almost all better because I started cleaning this morning and never seemed to stop until this evening. Considering the time I spent, it seems like I should have gotten more done, but done is done and crossed off the list, so not to complain.
Today I:
washed, folded, and put away 3 loads of laundry
washed, dried, and re-hung curtains
Scrubbed stove and underneath top
scrubbed microwave oven
vacuum cleaned & dusted downstairs
washed a couple of walls
washed ceiling fan and blades
cleaned picture frames hanging on walls
cleaned bird cage
went grocery shopping…
and bought a bottle of Pinot Noir, which I am finally, at this moment, sitting down to sip.
I don’t what has come over me. I couldn’t sit still today. I had to clean stuff. I’m still not sure whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing that this doesn’t happen all that often. Maybe it’ll happen again tomorrow. Anyway, I’m done in and I’m going to go watch a movie and snuggle into some freshly washed pink sheets and pillowcases which smell like Downy and make me very, very happy.
Pretty much what I will be doing today myself. Unless we actually have a dry day today. Then, then I will be out finishing the side and front yard. Took me almost five hours and thirteen bags to do the back yard on Sunday. E trimmed up the ugly little pine tree in the back corner. I think that back corner took at least 3-4 bags! I don’t think anyone has raked that back corner in years and years.
Oh, and is it better to dig up all the hosta now while its just peeking through the soil or once it is grown a bit? I want to split it up and plant some of it around the fence and shed.
Looks like it is suppose to be pretty crappy out there again today. I guess I will have to be happy with washing windows and blinds today.
Today and tomorrow were supposed to be the nicest days of the week. That forecast changed again. Now it doesn’t look as if any of the next several days will be very nice.
You want to divide your hostas now. Before they show much green or ANY evidence of leaves beginning to unfurl. Once that happens, you should wait until autumn. So if they look like little spears sticking up out of the ground not much more than an inch or two, then divide quickly.
Now what you need to do is make a compost pile. You’ve got all the trimminngs for one. Free dirt!
I started to change the paper in the bird cage, this morning, and went to get something out of the LR closet (I can’t even remember what now) and suddenly I had everything out of the closet and sorted into keep and get-rid-of piles. When I came back out into the kitchen, the drawer under the cage was still sticking out and I remembered what started it all. Well, one closet down and how many more to go?
LOL. I do that all the time, like everyday! I think they call it ADD?
Now if the weather would get a little less windy I might be tempted to go out and do it. Hopefully we will have one nice day in the next week!
Spring cleaning, its instinctual!
I was thinking about the possible reasons for spring cleaning to be such a cultural thing other than that it feels good after being cooped up all winter. But I suppose being cooped up all winter with candles, kerosene lanterns, fireplaces, and woodstoves or coal stoves and so forth probably turned spring cleaning into absolute necessities several generations ago. I wonder if it has always been a spring urge. Now that the days are longer, I have more time to see dirt. ;)
well if you run out of things to do and still have the urge, just head on down my way...I guarantee I can keep you busy. ;)
