Recovering
Yes, Kate is still among the living. I wasn’t sure for a few days, though. There is a vicious stomach virus making the rounds in these parts and it clobbered me a good one. Not the usual 24 hour type—oh nooo. This one lingers. The first day you hardly know what’s hit you and you drag all your blankets and pillow into the bathroom because there’s just no point in leaving, the second day you think you’re gonna die, the third day you wish you had, the fourth day you think maybe it’s a good thing you didn’t, but you’re not entirely convinced. By the fifth day you’re hungry enough to eat the wallboard off the walls, but you’re still incredibly queasy. By the sixth day, you’re almost back to normal. That’s where I am today. It has been a long week.
I am catching up on household details today and battening down the hatches for the snow storm. We haven’t had any snow for a while, so I guess we’re due. I’d really rather not, though. Since March is coming in like a lion, it had darned well better go out like a lamb and stay that way. We’ve earned a lovely warm spring and I want one. Truly. Winter can leave now. Goodbye winter....
Well I am certainly glad to know you are among the living. I really was worried you had fallen through one of the cracks in your new staircase!! Sorry to hear you had that nasty flu though.
I had the other one that has been making the rounds--me who never ever, ever gets sick. Mine was the head and chest cold, the horrible cough, etc. and was much easier to deal with then what you have. I did end up on antibiotics though and it took more than two weeks for it to go away. Still have a cough but I can deal with that.
Tea and saltines if you can manage them. I think that is what you should be doing...........Feel better soon. Missed reading your posts but am glad you seem to be on the mend.
DON’T SHOVEL, find someone to hire, worst thing you could do after being so sick. I think the latest is we (you and me and evryone in between) should get somewhere around 16”. BFD to put it crudely!! ;)
I didn’t have any saltines, unfortunately. But I did manage to choke down a fair amount of toast. And herbal tea. Peppermint. And the grossest electrolyte fluid I’ve ever tasted. Blech!
I’m sorry you had that chest cold/flu thing, too. I think that might be worse. It takes longer to get over it. I’m doing fine today, really. And yesterday was okay, too. J came over and dragged me out shopping. I was queasy as all get out and I groaned a lot, but I rose to the occasion quite admirably. Came home and crashed, though.
I’ve had it with shoveling. Maybe it’ll melt fast???? Nah, by the time the snow plow guy gets done with my driveway, I’ll have to shovel. Maybe the weather forecasters will be completely, embarrassingly wrong and this one will blow out to sea. Ohhhh, we could only hope!!!
Ugh, I’m recouping from yesterday. Been up since 2AM from coughing and not being able to sleep. I tried to take a nap but couldn’t fall asleep after drinking over a pot of coffee lol.
I am so not looking forward to this snow. They had better cancel school so that I have a lot of help shoveling!
Wouldn’t it be lovely if we woke in the morning and saw the sun shining? Sigh....a girl can hope.
The teacher across the street has her car’s nose parked at the very, very end of her driveway...just daring the snow plow driver to sock her in. It doesn’t look as if she’s expecting school to be cancelled.
Oh how awful! I hope you are on the mend, or mended!
I am all mended, Annie. YAY!
