Rambos back in action tonight

Tuesday, 7:35 pm

Our young paint ball Rambos are back in action tonight, shooting cars with abandon. The police department called to let me know that reports are coming in quickly tonight. The officer on the phone asked if I could write up a summary of what happened to me and the time frame involved and damage done. He will pick it up within an hour or so. Sounds as if he’s picking up other written summaries tonight as well. He’s not a happy fellow.

It’s interesting to listen to the police officer’s take on the matter. He totally blames video games. He’s certain this kid has Playstation and XBox 360 and all kinds of shooter games. Now the kid is taking it to the streets.

I didn’t want to say...but my kid also had Playstation and shooter games. He also had a paint ball gun. It doesn’t naturally follow that the kids will go out and start shooting cars (or people) if they play video games. I’d be more inclined to make the argument that, with a brand new paint ball gun, everything becomes a target. And 14-15 year olds don’t think things through to a logical conclusion. If memory serves, they can, on occasion, have very faulty thinking apparatus at that age. The suggestion I would make is that when a kid has a paint ball gun, it ought to be put someplace where the parents can keep an eye on it. And the kid doesn’t take it out of the house without the parents’ knowledge and consent, with a very precise picture of where it will be used and with whom. With an adult hovering on the periphery. But that’s just me.

So, I’m kind of hoping this youngster (or several) are caught tonight. Or soon. I’d like to receive a call from the police officer saying that the kids are ready for community service...would I like to submit any suggestions?

You know, there’s something rather endearing about a police officer showing up on my doorstep and whisking his hat off the moment I answer the door. Call me old fashioned, I guess.

He took my written statement and also asked if I’d get estimates done on the damages to my car because there will be restitution involved in this case. Huh.

Well that is good to know! I was afraid this was going to get swept under the table on you. Go get that estimate lol.

I wasn’t sure anything would come of it. But it seems to have gone from a one time event to a “we have a real problem here” type of situation. As far as I know, no one has been caught yet, but the police officer last night seemed to treat it as a foregone conclusion that we would have restitution. So I don’t really know what’s going on behind the scenes. And yes, I am going to have the estimate done on Friday. The paper work is in process.

My idea for their community service is to help your neighbor cut her wood into matchsticks for her new cute stove!!

As I write, I hear the rain coming down, the noise is unreal--it is torrential again.  Will this never end?  Oh wait, yes, it will - it stops and the snow is supposed to start.  YUKKKKKKK

LOL, Cyn! That’s a lot of matchsticks!

We had fierce thunderstorms last night. How strange. This morning....snow. Bleh. It’s still snowing and everything is nice and icy underneath. I’ll see your YUKKKKKKK and raise ya one.

we had the same.  T-storms about raised the roof the rain was trying to cave in--unreal.  And tell me why--in the winter t-storms (thunder-snow?) never bother me, but in the summer, I run for cover!!  They were doozys last night though.  And yes, we too woke to snow this morning, still snowing on and off here too but no real accumulation.  Just enough to make everything extra slippery when those temps go to 7 as I heard they will.  DAMN.
