Cider Press Hill

Quick catch-up

Sunday, 2:12 pm

Yes, I have been away from the blog for quite a spell now. And I am notoriously the worst correspondent on the planet so the emails that I didn’t answer weren’t ignored...they just didn’t get answered in this dimension even though I answered them in my head. Very much appreciated, by the way, but I am a lousy correspondent. Just horrible.

All is well, but you have to remember, I’ve been blogging for about 10 years now. I’d reached a point where I Had Nothing To Say That I Hadn’t Already Said. It was then that I began to think that perhaps I should change a few things in my life.

I think we could safely assume it was a mini mid-life crisis. Well, not really that dramatic and I didn’t quite do the equivalent of going out to buy a red sports car....

but....

I did....

get my nose pierced.

So you see....

Mid life crisis. Sort of.

The lad is home for the summer. He snagged himself an internship in Boston at the statehouse, working for a state rep. He also snagged paid employment at the same rep’s regional office so we have very entertaining story hours in the evenings around here. We’re also helping the local dry cleaner put his own son through college. Holy cow.

Anyway. I’m not sure that I’m any more filled with readable chatter and banter than before, but a few things have changed around here. We’ll get around to talking about it.

So. To recap...I’m just fine. My nose is highly offended at what I did to it, but I like it. The lad is home and loving politics. There is a new skin on the blog to reflect hope over reality....we’ve seen so little sunshine this summer so far that there are days when we worry that it fell out of the sky and is lying dead or dying in a desert someplace. Pictures of it are about as close as we get.

And did I mention that it’s cold outside? It has been the rare day here on the coast when we’ve been able to climb above 58°. That is utterly indecent for the middle of June.

Yep, still complaining about the weather.

I’ll be back soon.

Good to see you around...I hope any absences won’t last as long…
If it’s any consolation, the temperature here is 95° and climbing...and I’m 20 miles from the coast, or it would be higher.

Oh yay!  I can relax a little now.  And there is sun...........right above me on Cider Press Hill.  It peeked out for about 15 minutes in my little corner of the world about 10 minutes ago and then pfffffffttttt just like that it was gone...again and yes, damn cold.  This is not fun.

Glad you are back - well sort of back, I guess.  And nose piercing.  That is a hoot.  Of all the things I contemplate doing (and I do often), that was not one of them.  Don’t have a lot of nose anyway!!

Love the new face of CPH by the way, very uplifting, particularly here in NE!

Hey Gary. I am pretty certain that 58° and humid versus 95° and humid is no contest. I’ll shiver in the cold and damp long before I’ll agree to miserably hot and humid. It would be nice to have something in the middle a little more often, though. How novel to wake up in the morning, look out the window, and say, “OH! What a beautiful dry day!” Ha. Not around here.

We’ve had no sun today, Cyn. Not even 5 minutes of it. Not even a hint. Just rain and fog and drizzle and damp and cold with ugly, thick dark gray clouds and bleh. Re the nose...well, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and never had the courage. Finally did it....an itty bitty stud on the right side of my nose. Had I known how much it would hurt, I would not have done it. I’m not afraid to admit that I’m a coward. But it’s done and the pain was fleeting and I quite like the results, on a couple of different levels. And yes, I like this template, too. Thanks. Gotta get some sunshine one way or another.

I think getting your nose pierced was so much better than a little red sports car anyway. Old men look like complete idiots in them, IMHO, and your nose looks so cute!
Glad to hear that he did get the internship and the job! WOO HOO!
We had a crazy week with the Realtor and looking at different places she would send us. I am pretty burnt out with the whole thing. Took the weekend off from all of it. But alas, back at it today I suppose.
I am not even going to say what I want to about this sunshine thing. It wouldn’t be very lady like.

Hey justme, what about little green sports cars?  That’s what I’ve been driving for the last five years.  Mine is exactly the same model, year, and color as this one.

Of course, I look like a complete idiot no matter what I happen to be driving.

Kate, does one remove a nose ring when one has a cold?  Though it’s not something I’d ever do, I find it less strange than tongue studs, brow piercings, and such (the more intimate piercings are far, far, far beyond the pale).

PS.  It’s good to see you back in action.  I was beginning to be just a tad concerned.

LOL N ! I am sure you look adorable in the Miata! And your not that old. And a Miata is not a midlife crisis kind of sports car either.

Good to see you back.  I started blogging again, and I’m a little disheartened to see how many of my old blogroll have closed up and gone away!

N, your car wasn’t a mid-life crisis purchase. It was a “because my other car was stolen” purchase. You’re entitled. ;)

And no, I don’t think I’ll be taking my nose stud out in the event of a cold. I’ll just squirt saline up my nose and swab with a q-tip. Doesn’t take very long every morning and evening and does the job nicely. I can’t remove mine for a couple more months anyway. They take a long time to completely heal and trying to get one of these corkscrew studs back into my nose isn’t something I want to try until it is completely healed.

Hi Harry!  wave
