Oh my
So, I scanned the weather report a while ago. The computer models apparently have been all over the map for the past four days, which made forecasting the upcoming storm difficult. For a while, the Appalachian region was going to get walloped. Then the models started pushing the storm eastward out over the water. And then the two storm fronts that were supposed to merge down south somewhere got waylaid and will, apparently miss each other. One will skirt the coast and give us a little bit of snow. The other will sail out into ocean, gather strength, then come barreling up the coast—meeting a strong cold front. Now I’m beginning to hear words like bombogenesis and the biggest snow storm of the season. Maybe even 20 inches of snow.
Because weather forecasting is an inexact science, we’ll just have to wait to see what we get. I hope they’re wrong. Where would I put 20 inches of snow? WHERE?
But I’ll plan for the worst. That means....
Today I haul lots of wood in the house.
Anchor the tarps so they won’t blow away in the gale force winds.
Go to the grocery because I’m out of almost everything. Chocolate is on the list.
Anchor my snow shovel where it won’t get buried or blown away.
Make sure batteries are all recharged.
Cry a little bit.
Honestly.
Someday I will talk about something besides the weather. But it has been an undeniably intrusive factor in my life lately. It rules everything. I loathe snow. It used to be fun when I didn’t have to shovel the wretched stuff. Now it seems like that’s all I do. Shovel. Chip ice. Shovel. Shovel some more. Chip ice. More ice. Shovel. Etc. Only about 58 more days of this to look forward to.
What? I thought they said that it was just going to be flurries both days now? Where did you hear this one? I hope that the forecast you found is so wrong!
I wouldn’t mind if the storm went waaaaay out to sea. Let the fishies have a snow storm! Dunno. The forecast waffles. The weather computer models are still waffling back and forth. Maybe they’ll waffle us into blue skies rather than a blizzard. We can hope. I haven’t run into any weather reports that say just flurries, though. I could live with flurries.
and the groundhog saw his shadow today so, surprise, surprise, we have 6 more weeks of this crap. Oh wait, we would have had 6 weeks anyway, let’s hope in 6 weeks it is gone. Yeah, I am delusional. May if we are lucky.
My deck still has well over 2’ of snow--make that hardened ice/snow on it in parts where there was no path. And the only reason there was a path was so J could use the roof rake to take down some of the snow up there. I don’t know where another 20” will go either......I hope they are wrong, but.
Dusty went outside a little bit ago. She is walking around the outer edges of the deck where there is less and all you can see is a black tail sticking up. Periscope up!! ;)
I forget every year if we want him to see his shadow or not lol. So which is it?
I don’t envy you that snow at all. Stay safe and try to stay warm.
Dear lordy, I am bored! Where the heck are you lol??????? I have been advised that I should do NOTHING in the field of cleaning the day before, the day of, and the day after a snow storm, if I have to shovel. Nothing that I have to do any kind of bending or lifting etc.
I am going to go out of my freaking mind for pete’s sake! And of course, E and I went grocery shopping on Saturday so I don’t even have that to do, ugh! Help!
Today’s forecast (so far) says that the storms have pushed farther out to sea. That means we’ll only get an inch or two of snow. YAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
J, the groundhog saw his shadow and so we are in for six more weeks of winter. As if we didn’t already know that. Stupid groundhog.
so, if he does not see it, then spring comes early?
Yes, that’s the assumption they operate under. I don’t believe it for a minute.
