March electricity
In general, the trend line for my electric use is going down, with a few bumps here and there. According to the 90% rules, monthly household use needs to be 90kWh to represent a 90% reduction of the national average, so I’m currently below that. When the lad arrives home next month, I don’t think we’ll quite make it. But hope springs eternal. I’m plotting strategies already.
My lad arrives home in May for the summer. I am sure I will see an increase too. I need to look at last years consumption and compare also. Great Graph!
I’ve been graphing my electricity use for about a year and a half now. It’s fun watching the numbers trend downward. The lad’s vacations are a bit a challenge, though. Kids surely can find ways to burn electricity. It’ll take a week or two to reacquaint him with household conservation rules. He’s usually pretty good about complying.
I have to once again give you kudos, Kate. I admire how you’ve stuck with your 90% project.
Thanks, Adam. Fact is, though, what started out as a challenge has become normal daily living. These have been gradual changes over a long enough period that it’s for keeps now. For the life of me, I can’t remember exactly what we did that consumed upwards of 1000 kWh every month a couple of years ago. I don’t seem to be living a poorer life nor do I want for anything in particular. And, I must say, I’m getting a real kick out of electric bills under $20 per month.
All the more reason to be proud of what you’ve done. You’ve changed your way of living, to the benefit of all, and have felt little or no pain for it.
