Happy Patriot's Day and Marathon Monday

Monday, 10:10 am

It is sunny today, first time we have seen the sun in I do not know how long.  However, it is windy and COLD.  I know it is cold cause my cat was out for about a half hour and since she came in, she has been sprawled out in the window in the full sun.  Normally she can do that for a bit, then moves to a cooler place, but so far she is just soaking up the heat.

For those of you in other parts of the country, today is a holiday/Patriot’s Day - IF you live in Suffolk County.  For the rest of us in the Boston area, we like to pretend it is our holiday, but it really isn’t.  Today is Marathon Monday which you all know about.  That means the Red Sox play their annual game at 11AM instead of a reasonable time.  Not that watching the game is any big deal, at least not if they play the way they have been.  Man, could they get off to any worse start to a season?  I don’t get it.

Speaking of the marathon, last night’s news mentioned there could be as many as 2,000 runners stranded all over Europe because of the volcanic ash issue.  They said they really will not know until today how many were supposed to be here and could not make it.  Amazing.  Who knew!

OH--I found this amusing.  Started listening to the local news on ABC last night because something golf was still on CBS which is the channel I prefer for local news.  So our channel 5 went into the weather forecast for today and for the week, it was pretty depressing, not much to look forward to.  Damp, cool, some rain, a little sun.  Then I switched back to channel 4 (CBS) for their news.........the weather comes on and it is not TOTALLY different than the other channel but substantially so.  Now these are two local channels, local forecasts, using presumably the same techniques and technology to come up with a forecast...... So who do you believe?  No wonder they never get the weather right.  Today is a perfect example, neither one said FULL SUN, and yet it is.  I have decided to believe channel 4 cause their forecast was a lot more optimistic than channel 5!!  And they are both probably wrong.

Do I do errands today or do I stay home and clean my house?  Big decision.............HA

And that is it people, I got NOTHING. Absolutely nothing to offer.  So let’s call this an open forum and anyone who wants to can offer a comment on most anything they want to!!  That work?

Maybe I should start an advice column on Kate’s blog!!  Someone told me the other day I am SO good at offering advice!!  Yeah, to other people, too bad I don’t take my OWN advice.  laughter

Play nice, write to me so I have something to respond to!!

The sun isn’t shining here. Nosiree. It’s cloudy and ugly. On the warm side, though. At least...not freezing. I guess 56° is on the warmish side. Comparatively speaking. Not going to the beach weather, certainly. Perfect weather for a marathon, though. I wonder how the turnout will be. Lots of unhappy people probably stranded in Yerp.

I went to a little bluegrass concert here on Friday evening. The musicians (Gibson Brothers) had just returned from Germany and said they beat the ash cloud by mere minutes. They weren’t sure they were going to get out until the very last minute. Really has traveling snarled up over there with the airports filled with immensely frustrated and unhappy people. I can imagine.

The Red Sox will have to find a new curse to blame.  We love ‘em anyway. What would baseball be without sucky Red Sox to cheer on? That’s what we do.

Do errands. The only excuse for cleaning your house on a sunny day is if you’re into the twelfth consecutive sunny day and the dust dinosaurs have threatened to eat you for lunch.

The Dodgers lead all of baseball in runs scored and on-base-percentage. Yet their record is 7-7. How can this be? Junk pitching. Starters have made it into the 7th inning only once or twice, and the bullpen hasn’t yet rounded into form (which was the best in baseball last year).

You’re not the only one puzzled by your team.
