Either way....

Looks as if we’re getting weather again on Monday and Tuesday. Being a coastal storm, it’s hard to predict what will happen here. If the storm tracks to the east, we’ll get buried in snow. If it tracks a little bit inland, we’ll get torrential rain. Either way, the end result is lousy. Rain and massive snow melt mean floods. Most likely in my basement. Heavy snow and I’m packing my bags and running away.

Today was stage three of getting rid of ice from the last storm. I’ve been whittling away at the ice pile at the end of my driveway with a pitchfork and salt. I thought I’d gotten it down to a manageable size, but when I got in the car to run errands, I discovered pretty quickly that the ice pile was not whittled away quite enough. And I was out of salt. I got good and stuck. One of my neighbors came out to help. We chipped away at more ice and dumped an entire bag of kitty litter on the ice to see if I could get some traction. It helped enough for me to get out of the driveway. But there was no way I was getting back in without getting rid of the rest of the ice pile.

Soooo...I looked in the local stores for some salt. None to be found. I had to visit Wally World where I stocked up. I came home, parked on the street, and opened the trunk to haul out the bags of salt. The trunk lid and my head met soundly and suddenly there was a rush of blood pouring down my face. I slipped and slid into the house to see what damage I’d done to myself. Turned out to be a rather small cut on my head just a couple of inches above my hairline. But the path I left behind me looked as if I’d butchered a small animal. Good grief. What a mess.

Patched up and feeling fine, I resumed the de-icing routine. It took a while, but the ice loosened up enough to break up with the pitchfork and, finally, I was able to shovel away the crumbly bits. Enough to get back into the driveway.

At this point, I’ve had enough of winter. Really. And we’re only half way to spring. I’m not sure I’m going to survive it this year. I have so had it. Right up to my wounded noggin.

Ouch!

It’s amazing how much blood can be spilled from a head or face wound (says the guy who uses razor blades about a week beyond their use date).

We are crunching down our side walk and drive way. I just couldn’t go out there, should have but just couldn’t do it. Tried to get it up the other day. It will kill my back and any progress I have made with it if I try again. BC went out and chipped away at some ice for me. It didn’t do very much though, poor thing.
I really don’t care if it floods or not, we can swim in my basement! Pleas let it be rail. Rain, to wash away all this frigging snow.
Did you do anything with J yesterday? You never answered that part lol. Crazy day here. Tell you about it later. Looks like it will have to be next week end. I forgot about the super bowl. If I didn’t make munchies and what not for the boys they would flip out. Their team is playing so it should be a good game day. If you would like to come over and keep little ol me company, you are most welcome! But if I remember correctly you go someplace every year?
oh and keep your fingers crossed I might be able to breath again after next week. We shall see. I am not sucking my breath in and holding any more of it on it though.
And I used to be the biggest optimist I knew, remember those days?

LOL, I see you found the dragon cave! Came across it a while back after I found some books. Cute isn’t it.

Yes, it is surprising how much blood a head wound will pour forth. I thought for sure that I must have gashed my head wide open. Just a little slice though. It’s mostly healed today with a little bump. Not even too sore. So, I lucked out. Except for dribbles of blood on my white carpet. Now that didn’t please me very much.

J, they’re talking snow today. Snow would be better than freezing rain and ice, but we might get some of that, too. I don’t want any of it. Then the weather people are all giddy about this being the first of several coastal storms through February and early March. As if we haven’t had enough already. It’s easy to be giddy about storms when you can still see your own dead grass. It’ll be May before we see ours.

Yeah, I found the dragon cave. There seems to be no discernable rhyme or reason to how the eggs hatch. I hope mine do. The little dragons are so cute.

I’d say “I feel your pain” if I wasn’t feeling my own so much more acutely.  I’m looking at two or more months of PT, and my main treatment goal is to be able to tie my hair back in a ponytail ... right now, I can’t lift my arm up above horizontal.

PS. Belated HBD!

Ok, so it is February 1--well nearly so and I Have.Had.Enough.  Enough snow, enough ice, and enough of being cold.  The older I get the more I hate it.  It also doesn’t help that all of our friends - or nearly all, are spending anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months in warmer climates.......What did I do wrong?  Oh wait, they must be MUCH older than me.  LOL

Your trunk story brings back some recent bad memories.......the hydraulics in my trunk have worn out I guess, so mine does not stay up.  And it is a very heavy trunk.  I keep something in there to prop it up with but I somehow manage to get clocked at least once every week or so.........last time I caught it with my arm and had a bruise that was not to be believed.  Pain in the butt.................
