Cider Press Hill

Dinner tonight...

Friday, 8:54 pm

A plate of baked brie, a petite loaf of fresh French bread, a few green grapes, a sliced red apple, and a glass of Pinot Noir.

My little treat following grocery shopping. My mouth is so happy.

lovely, sounds like a perfect way to usher in the first day of spring..........even though it was damn cold out there today!!  And colder tonight, too.

Oh, it was delicious. And festive.

Yes, spring could have tried a little harder today. It was cold and I’m hunkered under my blankets right now. Too warm today to have a fire, but chilly enough that my nose never got warm. Although I noticed that my car was warmer than my house just from sitting in the sun in the driveway. That’s progress!  How about another 62 degree day? How about a long string of them? I know we can do it!

Do you recall that we had a snowstorm on March 29th last year? OMG, perish the thought. I will just wither and die if that happens this year.

Funny on the day that I do the grocery shopping we always end up with a light dinner. I think after being around all that food one just isn’t all that hungry. Now while in the store I am famished lol. But once home, not so much.
Oh we certainly could use a string of weather in the mid 60’s for sure, say like 30 or so. Then it can move on up to the mid 70’s! Wouldn’t that be nice?
I so don’t even want to see a single snow flake again until at least December 24th. Please?

I’m just tired of trying to stay warm. I dream of 65-70 degree days.

Hmm.  Frozen corn on the cob, sautéed fresh mushrooms, pan-fried london broil, baked potatoes.  No sour cream, though; it’s fattening. wink

Ohh, just a little dab of sour cream? Kind of like bread and butter or Bob and Ray or Mutt and Jeff. Can’t have one without t’other. Sounds heavenly. I’d love a london broil right this very minute.

It was good, but I initially forgot the mushrooms.  This is a standing joke; invariably when I sauté the things I take ‘em off the fire and forget them.  It was worse tonight, since I remembered them for Mom but forgot mine until I had only two slices of steak left.

I didn’t even buy sour cream, not even fat free, this week. The kids are going to protest lol. We are going as healthy eating as we can in this household. I even told E, no more white bread! I was surprised when he didn’t bark at me! No more chips or pretzels either. He can have fruit with his lunch. I told everyone I will make one guilty pleasure meal a week, the rest will be good but healthy. And potatoes are only going to happen once a week. E got a little scared about that lol.
More fish, less red meat. Which is not going to be easy because two of the kids don’t like it. They will just have to get use to more chicken on those nights. Sigh.
OK, I know who Mutt & Jeff are but, who is Bob & Ray?

Linkmeister, I’ve left a pan of mushrooms on the stove, forgotten and neglected, a number of times over the years. Poor humble little things. But you served them up for your Mom and forgot your own? Your mind was on basketball, wasn’t it? ;)

J, I’ll be curious to see how long the potato ban will last. You’re going to have a revolt on your hands!

Bob and Ray were radio personalities who got their start in Boston back in the mid 40s. They were humorists/satirists and adored by many. Over their 40 year career they appeared on TV and radio stations all over the country. They finished up their career on Public Radio. I grew up listening to them and they were astute observers and funny as heck.
