Cider Press Hill is an imaginary place, based on a real place. It was a former home from which my heart never completely left. It was a wonderful place at the crest of a hill, overlooking a valley—where the sunsets were beautiful and the thunderstorms were magnificant.

However, on the other side of the coin, it was also a place where the Air Force did their summer maneuvers and a couple of the pilots would buzz the house and knock pictures off the walls. First time I really understood the meaning of the phrase, “Made my knees buckle.”
