Birdie pics
This isn’t a particularly good picture of the new bird cage, but it does give some idea of scale. As you can see, two little birds don’t take up very much room in it. Even with a whole lot of toys and things. Check out those brass door knobs. Real brass, Why couldn’t the casters have real brass??!
This is Lucy’s first portrait. Neither of them was thrilled with me poking my head in their cage with my camera. Lucy is the yellow one.

And here we have birdie love. Dobby is preening Lucy’s head. She could spend the entire day doing that. I’m glad they like living together.

such cute birdies. i hope they enjoy their new home. very nice cage....where did you find it, if you don’t mind my asking?
Awwwwwwwww, they are so cute together!
And, and, I wanna go home! Now please. I have had enough. My back aches just looking out the door. I can’t take a few more months of this! This is crazy. I don’t ever remember this much snow, ever in my life.
I think this is some kind of sick joke being played on me?
I can’t wait to come over and see their new home. I wanted to try and come over today but, but, I have to shovel freaking snow. After that I don’t think I am going to be up for much. Sigh. Feking snow.
and the snow keeps on coming. I think we must have 6” so far of new stuff. Yikes! Love the pictures - what a nice bright spot in an otherwise gloomy morning. They must be so much fun...maybe that is what I need to get next.
For now, though I will have to content myself with the birds outside. Dusty is busy watching them hopping all over the deck eating the seeds I keep throwing out.
Sky, they are thoroughly enjoying their new home. It’s pure pleasure watching them. Lucy has really blossomed since moving in. I bought the cage at Doctors Foster and Smith. I’ve had a good experience with them in the past and their bird supplies are top notch as well.
This snow business...I thought we were only supposed to get 3-6 inches of the stuff, but we surpassed that a couple of hours ago and it’s still coming down. We’re working on a foot of snow at the moment. I am just so not excited about shoveling it. I’m glad I brought a lot of wood in the house yesterday. I’m not too interested in going out to shovel my way to the woodpile today. Blech!
J, we had more snow in 1995 or ‘96. You must remember that… That was the year we had a nor’easter every weekend in January and the snow was over our heads and up to the top of my deck railing (measured from the ground). We were getting desperate trying to find places to shovel it that year. We still have a long way to go to beat that. Let’s hope we don’t.
Cyn, birds are a lot of fun. They are so smart and really enjoy their humans. It is such a cheerful sound hearing them chirp and sing, too. Dobby loves to listen to music. He’s a blues boy and really gets rocking when I play some of the good old blues standards for him. What a hoot!
I don’t remember 95? I remember early 90’s when I was here and everyone lost power for and water for a couple of weeks tho!
I might just wait until tomorrow to shovel. I think it is suppose to keep snowing through out the night? Depends on when GC1 needs to go to work in the morning. E can just wait and go in a little late, thankfully. Oh she just told me she has the day off. Woo Hoo! I will have help too!
There are 8 inches of snow on the top of my deck railing. It’s still snowing. The snow is heaped up against my back door. If I open it the snow will tumble into the house. I’m not smiling about this.
A junco just arrived, trying to find a place to land. Decided on the clothesline. The bird feeders are buried. The deck floor is buried. Good luck little bird. No seeds for you today.
I just got caught up on your last few posts. I love the cage! The birds look so happy and contented in there together! I am glad they are staying warm and cozy, it sounds like you are really getting slammed with weather! I hate to say it but its been in the low 80’s here.
Thanks, Annie. We’re all cozy inside. The birds think it’s just another summer day.
There is now a foot of snow on the deck railing. It’s still snowing. My deck is hysterical. The cooler is completely buried. The snow is drifted two feet up against the door. I wonder how much all that snow weighs. Hope my deck moorings are solid.
I think an 80° day would be an especially pleasant experience right about now....
ugh. Two hours out there today. Could have been longer if, Two very nice boys didn’t stop by and help me (recognized me from the high school), and I decided not to shovel out both cars and the whole drive way. Just did one car and half the driveway. I have no idea how much we have but it was past my knees! and still coming down.
Just popped two muscle relaxers (thankfully I saved some from my surgery) and having a glass of wine to wash them down. Should be feeling just fine in a half hour or so!
Well over a foot here, too. Stopped for now, but I guess more later tonight--a small storm though, only 2-3” for that one? But then, this was supposed to be 6-9” and it went way past that so who knows. See you in April........maybe! LOL
Just called my two girlfriends in Hawaii--yeah, I am a masochist.......Marsha was on her way to the beach - poor baby, I feel so badly for her having to go to the beach and not being able to make snowmen and Carol was working at Pepper’s Place, her restaurant. And says it is a gorgeous day. HUMPF or something like that.
This morning’s Globe had an article about people who instead of selling their homes or have tried to unsuccessfully, are now offering to trade homes.......there was a man in Florida who owns two homes there, he is wanting to swap one of them - 3 bedrooms, 3 car garage, pool, fireplace, etc. for a house anywhere within 100 miles of Wayland.........I handed the paper AND the phone to my husband and said CALL HIM NOW! He just laughed at me. I.Am.Not.Kidding.
The article was cool though, if you can access it online, read it......kind of interesting and if I could find someone in Hawaii who wants to swap with me, (linkmeister???) Just.Call.Me. (4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, all the other normal rooms, a cat, a 93 year old and sometimes a 31 year old son) You can have them all.
I have no mortgage so could be an even swap. LOL
Er . . .
Hey, I would be happy to sleep on Linkmeisters front lawn at this point! If I can shovel, I can mow a lawn!!
We have no front lawn (it’s a corner lot), but we have one in the back, with mango tree but now without dog.
It’s been in the 60s in the morning out here, which may sound balmy to you New Englanders but forces sweatshirts on us.
It got up to 34 degrees here today, Linkmeister. Almost spring! I was out without a jacket for a little while shoveling. Common sense prevailed, however, and I went in and put a jacket on. Left it unzipped, though. First time it’s been above freezing in quite a while.
Those sudden 60 degree days in the summer send me scurrying for long sleeves and long pants. It feels awfully cold when you’re used to mid 80s to 90s.
Linkmeister, I can bark and pretend! And I won’t eat all the mango’s!
My teeth use to chatter something awful if it went below 70 degrees when I lived in Cali. They still do really lol.
Didn’t seem to snow last night, woo hoo!
