April showers
Our April showers apparently intend to move in and stay for a while. It has been drippy and damp for the better part of the week. The next several days’ forecasts have rain as the centerpiece, too. Although we haven’t been threatened with floods (or been flooded) like other parts of the country—yet—I’m sure we feel pretty much the same way about incessant rain. This has been an unusual spring. At least in my yard. Despite all the rain, we have somehow managed to by-pass mud season, which is almost a guaranteed season. So that’s something to be happy about. I don’t know why things aren’t a muddy mess, but they aren’t, and I’ll take it, thank you.
Still, could we save some of the rain for later? We might need it later. It is not necessary to dump it on us all at once. Really, it isn’t.
Well, after all the rain we are suppose to get in the next couple of weeks........... I think we will jump right in to the mud! I know we will here anyway. Getting ready to go out and tackle what should have been done in the fall. Leaves, wet leave. Oh joy!
We priced stuff for my garden yesterday. about a hundred to build it. Not bad. The dirt is what is going to cost us tho. If I can find any. I think we are going to get the supplies sometime today.
How are you feeling? Better yet? GC2 has a DR’s follow up on Monday but I should be free after that. I am sure E wouldn’t mind picking up BC from school one afternoon.
I have a very deep voice, currently, but I’m doing okay otherwise. ;)
I could give you a couple of names from this town, but I’m not sure about your town. I’ve only bought a load of soil once. I think it was from Beach Plum Two. It was beautiful stuff. Are you building any raised beds?
The rain continues. I looked out the window a while ago and thought, “It looks so clean out there.” The winter grime seems to have been scrubbed off everything. It’s quite pretty.
Good. Glad you are feeling better! The child goes back to school tomorrow. WOO HOO! The Dr did say that if she had not missed so much school because of all this, that he would keep her home another week. (You would find me in a little rubber room by then lol.)
I have a few thing that have to get done around here tomorrow and possibly Wednesday. But if not, Wednesday or Thursday will be good days. Even possibly Friday.
I know of only one garden center around here but I don’t know if they have soil for delivery.
The Veg garden is going to be a raised bed.
All around the fencing in the back I am going to split up the hosta plants, spread them out and plant herbs and flower in between them. It should be very easy. All around the fence is were there is no grass. Not a freaking blade, not even a weed. Pure dirt. The moss of course is mostly right were the veg garden is going. Sigh, lots of work there!
Anyway, let me know if one of the days is better for you. I just have to let E know so he can pick up the BC.
J--at one time Peter Breen in North Andover had soil--at least I believe he did. We used to get our mulch from him and I seem to recall someone on my street getting a truck load of soil. His company is Peter Breen......not sure how far you are, but might be worth calling.
I will have to look them up. I called around yesterday and it looks like the are all around $19- 22 a yard, with a $35-40 delivery charge. So they all work out to be around the same, give or take a few dollars.
Well it looks like I have to stick around here today. We have an appraiser coming to do a appraisal on the house and she is coming at noon. Kinda kills the day lol. Nothing to worry about though. It’s not going up for sale!
