If we wondered how Terry would handle having another dog in the house, I think the question has now been answered.
I’m babysitting my friend’s dog, Maggie, this weekend. Maggie is a tiny and adorable Maltese who has energy and feistiness to spare. She’s no pushover. Terry is perfectly willing to let Maggie boss her around.
Terry is excited. She follows Maggie everywhere and tries so hard to get her attention, but Maggie is unaccustomed to other dogs and ignores Terry completely. But she likes Terry’s bed and plopped herelf right in the center of it, while Terry removed herself to a tiny throw rug by the door so that Maggie could have the whole bed. You’d have to know how attached to her bed Terry is to understand what a sacrifice this is for her—and a very willing one.
While I made dinner a while ago, I have to admit that having two dogs in the kitchen felt really good. There was a little hum of extra energy flying around that made something click. It just felt right.
That’s something I didn’t need to know. Dangerous information for the impulsive mind, y’know?
