The lad arrived home around 5:30 in a rather cranky mood.
“Why didn’t you answer the phone?!” he nearly sobbed.
Poor kid walked home from waaaay out in the sticks, with all his duffle, after a hard x-country workout this afternoon. He was pretty exhausted and none too happy.
“Are you sure you dialed the right number? Did the answering machine pick up? I didn’t hear the phone ring at all.”
And...well...no wonder. The phone line is dead. Very, very dead. With no explanation, so far. I have a digital phone line as part of the complete Comcast package. I’ve liked my digital phone line and have had no problems at all. Until now. According to Comcast, there is nothing wrong with the line and nothing amiss shows up. Which means, I think they are trying to tell me, the problem exists inside my house someplace. And that, of course, means that I can warm up the check writing pen any time now.
Or maybe not. Comcast has been known to tell me nothing was wrong on their end, only to find out differently. But, until we sort it out, I don’t have a land line. And the cell phone battery only wants to hold a 10 minute charge.
Crap.
