Business first. New templates up. I came to the conclusion that one paragraph of one post on the main blog page wasn’t a good idea. Most people were diving right past it into the ‘last 7’ page. So was I, for that matter. So, we’re back to tried and true and traditional. Probably a couple of bugs yet to be worked out.
Today is DirecTV installation day. The company said the technician would arrive sometime between 8:00AM and Noon. So far, no signs of a technician. This morning the lad said he voted for a 2:30 arrival and I laughed. Maybe I shouldn’t have.
Also, this morning, we had the brand new roll out of a brand new lad. Over the weekend, he decided that he wanted to have his hair cut. That shocked me. I asked why and he said he was tired of the dark roots and orange tips, still left over from when he and his cross country team mates bleached their hair last summer. His hair was long. Nearly to his shoulders long, which was fine on him. He has a thick mop of hair and it’s luxuriously wavy—long hair looks good on him. Still, I was surprised that he announced his desire to have his hair cut. Usually I have to plot for days in advance to get him into the barber’s chair.
I dropped him off at the shop and ran some errands Saturday afternoon. When I returned, a stranger walked out to the car. Good lord, not only did he have his hair cut, he had his head practically shaved bald. Or at least is seemed that way after having grown so accustomed to his long orange streaked locks. He’s back to his natural color.
The thing that amused me, though, was that with the new hair cut came a brand new vanity. I lost count of the minutes, merging into hours, that he spent in front of the mirror, over the last two days, trying out his hair gel. And then he wondered what he should wear this morning to show off his new hair cut. I wasn’t sure what to say.
His usual attire is slouchy sweatshirts and baggy pants. This morning he came downstairs in khaki knee length hiking shorts and a crisp looking polo shirt. I don’t know how long this will last (and I like his new look), but I kinda miss the old lad. I have a feeling there is a girl involved in this somewhere, but he’s not admitting to anything.
