New neighbors

The new neighbors across the yard finished moving in over the weekend. I haven’t officially met them, but had a brief conversation with the Mister this morning. They are an older couple and he seems quite nice. He saw me out this morning and came over to the fence to make an inquiry. He started mowing the front lawn yesterday afternoon and discovered he has no suitable place to dump his grass clippings. He asked if it would be okay for him to dump them behind my back fence. That’s where I dump mine so I said sure, go ahead as long as we are both free to share the compost. He thought that was agreeable. He plans to contribute compost to the mix, too, and thought there should be enough to share. In addition, he said that he would mow my adjoining front lawn as part of the deal.

That’s a pretty sweet deal. We didn’t have time to get into the finer details, but with him talking compost piles and grass mowing deals on our first meeting, I think we’ll get along splendidly.
