My thinking, this morning, was that trying to switch from Comcast to Verizon was going to be one very big and long drawn out headache. But I steeled myself and made the call.
A warm and motherly Sandy took my call and soon had it all in hand.
All I have to do is present my credit card. Sandy will take care of coordinating all the details between Comcast and Verizon. She even promised that while I’m waiting for the seven days between the Comcast internet disconnect and the Verizon DSL connect, they will provide me, free of charge, dial-up service so I don’t get too severe a case of the DTs.
This is what I call customer service. I am fully aware that it may not turn out quite as coordinated as Sandy is telling me, but she’s already called me twice today with the promise of another call in the morning to keep me up to date on what’s happening. Really, would Comcast do that? They never have.
So, sometime between May 3rd and May 10th, I will be completely switched over from Comcast to Verizon for DSL broadband internet, telephone, and DirecTV. More service features for enough less each month to make the switch truly worth while. And I anticipate that the DSL will actually work, unlike Comcast’s broadband which only wants to work when the wind blows in the right direction. Meanwhile, Sandy will check in daily until it’s all completed.
Customer service, people. It makes a difference. A big one.
