The good news is—we nearly have a complete fence again.
The bad news is—an interesting story, from my side of the fence. Mark was not amused. In fact, he was bilious. A bit green around the gills.
As I prepared to take Terry out for her early morning constitutional, I saw Mark out there violently stabbing the earth with his fence post digger. I wandered out and asked, “New fence coming today?”
“No,” he said, slamming the fence post digger into the ground so hard it made my teeth rattle. “I’m putting the old one back in.”
Well, OH.
The official story is that the fencing company couldn’t produce before the middle of January.
The probable story is that Mark’s landlord didn’t have a place to store his brand new 3 sections of fence, so he decided, by God!, he was going to put them in come hell or high water. And since I didn’t want his screwy looking solution to the damaged fence sections, he put them in at the other end of the yard where the existing fence was just fine. And I have my doubts whether he had made any arrangements to have any fencing built. Just my suspicions, of course, but seems likely considering the grousing he did to me and to Mark about having to find a place to store the 3 new sections of fence for the winter.
So, we still have a damaged section of fence, although Mark has repaired it as well as he can, and he is spitting mad at having to put the old fence back in when, 4 months from now, he’ll have to take it back out again to put the new one in. It was all so unnecessary and such a waste of time.
What a strange little man his landlord is.
