Oh my goodness, it’s cold out today—a horrible 21° currently. Nice and toasty in the house, though. Last night I even had to open my bedroom window, which made sleeping delicious. And there wasn’t a twinge of guilt for doing it. Have I mentioned that I love my wood stove?

This morning Terry greeted me with crossed legs I didn’t think we were going to get to the door quickly enough. As soon as I opened the back door, she took a sniff of the frigid air and trotted right back to her bed. Her look was one of incredulous disbelief, as if to say, “Are you out of your ever lovin’ mind?” So much for crossed legs and floating teeth. I finally got her out the door and it was the quickest backyard business I’ve ever seen. Well, at least since last winter.

While the fierce cold and winds blew in last night, snow rode in on the storm’s coat tails. There’s just enough snow on the ground now to cover the roads and the grass. It’ll probably melt tomorrow when the temps rise back into the mid-40s, but it’s pretty to look at today. Ordinarily, Terry would enjoy playing in the snow, bulldozing her nose through it and tossing it into the air. But there really isn’t enough for that today and it’s too cold to enjoy it. She’s happily curled up on her fuzzy blanket.
