I am so furious with Comcast today that I do believe our beautiful relationship has hit the rocks. It is definitely time to sign up for DSL.

This morning I went to check my mail and the connection was down. I tried a website and a page appeared with the Comcast logo saying that I had to re-register my account and not to call Comcast, just download some software and follow directions.

They’re kidding, right? I’m thinking something got hacked and I’m for sure not going to give out any information or download anything, especially when the screen went out of its way to tell me that the Comcast reps wouldn’t know anything or be able to help and I shouldn’t bother calling them.

So I called them.

They shut me off for non-payment. But wait, I said, I don’t owe you anything!

Oh yes, you do, they said. Three months. Your credit card changed and the automatic electronic payments stopped.

Yes, I said, but I went to your website and paid you. I have receipts. The money was taken out of my account. What did you do with it?

Huh, they said. You need to get your receipts and bank statements and take them to the local cable office. If you can prove you paid, we’ll turn you back on.

So I did. Fine, they said. We’ll turn you back on, except, the servers are down and we can’t. Call back in an hour.

Five hours later, they managed to turn my account back on. And they soaked me a $15 service charge to do it.

And I further discovered, that whatever upgrades and screwing around they’ve been doing with their servers lately, their online accounting system seems to have been...misplaced. Happy to take my payments, but nowhere for them to be credited.

That’s it. I officially really don’t like them anymore. We’re finished.
