It’s tradition. Dixville Notch (NH) is the first place to vote in an election, at precisely midnight. I hang around all evening waiting to see what they say in every Presidential Election.They are pretty reliably Republican up there. So, it was a matter of some curiosity to see what they did this year.
Well, according to this CNN headline: It’s Obama in a Landslide.
Dixville Notch has twenty one registered voters and each one voted tonight. Six votes went to McCain and fifteen to Obama. That’s a blowout.
The last time Dixville Notch voted for a Democrat in a Presidential Election was 1968. May this be a better omen than last time. ;) Thank you, Dixville Notch, for making me smile tonight. I needed that.
