Last night I started a cozy fire in the wood stove and sat down with my various counted cross stitch patterns to decide which one to start. I picked out a holiday pattern with a reindeer and lots of color and pine trees and snowflakes and geometric shapes. It won’t be a hard pattern, just a tremendous amount of stitching. It took me about an hour and a half to do this much:

There are 123 stitches in that photo.  I figure there are at least another 14,000 to go. The piece of fabric is 12” x 18” and the finished stitching will take up about 8” x11”. At this rate, it should be finished by next Christmas. I’ll photograph some updates periodically. It will be pretty when it’s finished. It’s just going to take a lonnnng time. I should have started it this past summer.
