Cider Press Hill

Miss me?

Never mind, do not answer that.......I know no one does! LOL

This is quick, just so you know I am still alive and well.  Well being a relative term; physically yes, mentally, well there are plenty who have their doubts!!  As for me though, I am simply a legend in my own mind!!

News is so sucky lately I do not even feel like posting about it.  Massive oil spill that might have been avoided but for a simple (well probably not REALLY simple) gadget costing around $500,000 which is, no pun intended, merely a drop in the bucket of BP’s profits; stock market crashing - although last night there were theories about it being a typo?  Hello???  A typo. Oh right, some guy, they speculate--(I prefer to think guy not gal) meant to type MILLIONS and added too many zero’s and it came out BILLIONS.  ya think?  Conspiracy theory??  Bring us to our knees again?  I mean really...........

And then, of course, for those of us who live in New England, our brief reign of euphoria came to a crashing halt last night.  Bruins lost--had they won, they would have been in the finals for the first time in 18 years--they have another chance on Monday night; Celtics apparently were playing at the Garden, but I guess did not bother to show up--lost by something like 38 points in their playoff game.  Celtics, down by 38 points??  Heresy.............  and then we had what is usually fun, the Red Sox vs the Yankees at Fenway...they have been playing much better of late, but last night, they lost miserably again.  Not a good night in B-town.  I realize in the scheme of things and there are many more important things going on in the world, these were merely minor blips--but c’mon, we needed something good to brighten the dreariness of the news.  Oh well.

And today it is raining; it is Saturday so of course it is miserable weather.  I am volunteering (my usual twice a month Saturday gig) at a local thrift shop - I am going to do a Facebook Fan Page for them, so when I do, please come visit it--I guess I have to get permission first though and some of the people on the board are, well, let’s just say not particularly in the here and now.  So wish me luck.  Today is also Andover’s annual Crafts in the Park day, which I would guess will be canceled or postponed or something.  That is too bad cause it is an awesome event and would, of course, have brought more business into the shop.

What else?  Oh, I know, I just read that

Stephen Hawking, the famous British theoretical physicist
and paralytic, recently made headlines by coming out of the
scientific closet.

Hawking has already warned that we should be very wary about
making contact with extraterrestrial beings. “If aliens ever
visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher
Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very
well for the Native Americans,” he said.

But, as he presented his latest ideas about what travel in
the future might resemble, he reportedly admitted that he
had kept quiet on the subject for fear of being labeled a
heretic by the scientific community.

In a much more recent documentary he suggested that spaceships
will one day be so fast that we won’t know whether we’ve come
or gone. Hawking suggests that Einstein’s theories of relativity
will become obsolete. He posits that, at some point when we’re
all long gone, a day on a spaceship traveling at 650 million
miles per hour would be akin to one year on Earth. In other
words, a passenger on such a trip would be able to time travel
forward one year in only a day.

Hmmm, one phrase above really hit home...."we won’t know whether we’ve come or gone.” HELLO?  I do not know if I am coming or going EVERY day, so what’s the big deal with that??  laughter

And on that note, I really have to tear myself away, hair to dry, makeup to apply, quarters to find for the parking meters downtown and off to work I go!!

Ciao’
