How to build an ark

The Boston Globe has a sense of humor!

We’re in the worst recession of most people’s lifetime, and in the midst of the worst stretch of summer weather that anyone can remember. Have things reached biblical proportions? Maybe not, but just in case, we thought it might help to provide instructions on how to build an ark.

How to Build an Ark.

Too funny.
I left a comment yesterday about the weather. My internet decided to go down in the middle of writing it and I just now fixed it. Spent time with the tech support on line, got it running but they did not stay on long enough to help fix why it would not stay connected. Sigh. So I figured it out and fixed it myself.
Just watched the weather report for the next few days.
Rain today, tomorrow partly sunny with a spot shower in the early afternoon, Sunday....... sun and dry. Do I dare to believe it?

Psstt...... We will have no children in this house tonight. (do I dare believe that?) GC1 is going camping over night. GC2 is suppose to go camping also. BC is going to my brothers for the weekend. I don’t remember the last time that happened. It has been years!
Oh and E is going to FL for a couple of weeks, leaving Mon or Tues I think, so we need to make plans to get together. Hopefully we will have a place and a secure date of when we leave while he is down there. I am getting very frustrated I tell you.

Can you see it?

Posted by justme on 07/03  at  01:39 PM

I actually saw it. It didn’t last very long and then it rained again, but I saw some sunshine. That was exciting!! Now back to our regularly scheduled rain, mist, fog, and humidity. Yay.

The Globe’s instructions aren’t bad, but Cosby’s are better.

“Right!”

Oh, c’mon! Captcha word: Anubis!!!!

LOL!  Well I am not sure where to find gopher wood.  Better ask the gophers I say!

Not again? Maybe I will need to look the instructions up!

Way off topic here. I can’t find a store that carries rice paper (Banh trang). We have been craving these summer rolls that we use to get at the California Pizza Kitchen in Ca. I have a recipe (use to make them all the time in Ca) for them that is pretty much just like them. The closest Asian market I can find is in Lawrence. Not even sure they will have the right ones (not wanton wraps).
Kate, Cyn do either of you know of a place closer?

Posted by justme on 07/07  at  07:04 PM

Trader Joe’s??  And the only Asian market I know of is the one in Lawrence.  Try to google it using this area as a starting point??

And back on topic......don’t throw the directions for Ark making away cause apparently we will be needing them.  I swear I floated down streets the other day and today was horrific again.  Supposedly some places in central MA got 10-12”.  And it is damn cold too.  HAte it.  J, when are you moving?  I may be tenting in your backyard.......yours or Linkmeister’s.  I am fed up.

Cyn, the one in Lawrence is the one that came up in google search. I was hoping there was one closer to me than that one that didn’t come up.
Kate and I have been to a Trader Joe’s but I was over an hour away! Guess I will just have to hope the on in Lawrence has them and stock up.
As far as the move....... I was hoping to be moved by now! I have given a deadline of Aug. 1st. Ha. Lets see if it happens. I just want a couple of weeks to get settled before the kids start school. The kids really don’t care lol. The longer they have to spend summer vacation with friends and family here the better for them.

Well, just when you think the weather can’t get worse.... bleh.  Tornado warnings down by Hopkinton and Medfield. One inch hail for many of the rest of us...plus the millennial floods. Geez.

J, I have no idea where you would get the rice paper. And I am amazed there aren’t any Asian markets around. You could try to call the store in Lawrence to see if they have what you want before you go.

could you order them online, most places have free shipping now and you might get them fairly quickly.  What if you contacted the corporate office of California Pizza Kitchen?  I think there is one in the theater district in Boston--call them??

Ok, I am going to put oars on my car and just row to work from now on.  I cannot remember when it rained this hard this long.  Enough already.  This is seriously depressing.  I tried all day to find something funny about it, but gave up.  If the temps were at least tolerable, that might help, but 60 is not tolerable in July.

Oh, on another note, try to access the Letterman show from last night, he went off on Palin again, very, very funny - to me anyway!!

Guess I am off to the market in Law. today. They have them, they say.
Cyn, I did the amazon thing and one other place online. Somehow paying $23 and shipping at amazon and any amount from $3- to whatever I want depending on how much I want to buy plus at least $10. for shipping(and that is only if I want a couple of $1.90 packages) is a craving killer!! Sigh.
I thought about calling Not your average Joe’s. They have a similar summer roll on there menu.
So I think I will stock up on several packages at the Asian market. They store pretty well for a long time. Just have to be careful not to crush them or bang them around. I think I will bubble wrap the suckers. And when we move....... They will be in the front seat with me. Double bubble wrap and in there very own box, by themselves!

Ahhhhhhhhh, Sunshine!

Oh Kate, GC2 is a couple houses down, E dropped her off late yesterday when he went to my brothers office to retrieve my purse that I left in Maine on Sunday. Which had my only and last pair of contacts in it!
She says she won’t need a ride home but, that hasn’t happened yet! Not sure if she will come home today or in a couple. So I figure it will be a good chance to get a visit in. Let me know what you are up to for the next few days!!
(E didn’t go to FL this week or I would have been there already!)

I now have in my pantry not one but four boxes of rice paper rounds. Each look like they have at least a dozen rounds in them. And oh, lots of dried chillies!!! I am thinking that I need to go back before I move and stock up on a few thing if in my Google searches that there are no Asian markets around the place we are moving to.
The sun is shining, it’s at least somewhat warm, and I can make my summer rolls tonight. I am a happy camper!
