Coupla observations
Two observations this morning:
#1. It is now faster to park the car in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot, walk in and buy a coffee, pass the time of day with the employees, and walk back out to the car than it is to go through the drive-up window. Only two cars had moved through the drive-up while I was in the store. Because someone ordered a dozen mixed donuts (1/3 chocolate, 1/3 powdered, 1/3 glazed...no...wait.....make that just four glazed, four powdered and four chocolate...???), one dozen blueberry and cranberry-orange muffins, four toasted bagels with cream cheese (no, wait, cream cheese on two of them, cream cheese on the side for two of them...what? Oh cream cheese on the onion and the cinnamon raisin), and two specialty beverages—and had the drive-up line backed up around the building and out onto the street. And *I* pulled into the parking lot two cars behind the woman in the bright yellow Humvee who ordered the banquet to go in the express drive-up lane. She probably would have saved a gallon of gas if she’d just parked and gone into the store, too. It was pretty empty in there, only one other customer besides me.
#2. Red lights are only for average people. Special people get to run red lights even if it means the poor schlub who wants to exit a side street on her own green light loses the opportunity. I watched five people cruise through a red light on my notoriously short green light...and then my light turned red again. This is not uncommon at that intersection. It would be a good location to park a cop for the day.
Aside from that...it’s a beautiful day here so far. We have a sea breeze today. The local weather person said it would extend about three to five miles inland and we’d enjoy temps in the mid to upper 70s this morning with low to mid-80s by mid-afternoon. The rest of the folks get to sizzle in the mid-90s today, he said. The air is so crisp and dry this morning that I can hear the boats out on the water. There are beautiful cool breezes pouring into the house and I have every window and door open to catch them!
BTW, Robin Joseph, a mere 20 years of age, has such talent and maturity now, that one wonders what his art will be like in another 20 years. What a gift to be able to create like he does. Go see.

Doesn’t that drive me crazy, when someone goes through the drive thru at Tim Hortons and orders lunch, ... like soup, a sandwich (toasted no less), donut and coffee. .... I get so upset, when I hear people placing orders like that I almost yell out the window to tell them to “GO INSIDE dimwit!”
So yes, it can very well take less time to go inside for a single coffee & and a sweet here in Halifax too.

It amazes me how many people run red lights… Sometimes I wonder if cops ever cite people who do that, because a lot of people don’t seem at all worried about it.
Pack/Mob mentality. Seen it before. (Sadly, did it myself a couple of times...) Nobody actually watches the lights, just the car in front of them. If that person doesn’t stop, then they don’t either. The lead dog (bitch?) is in control, so to speak.
Sad.
I can’t speak for the first car that goes through the red light, but the string of cars behind it seem to clearly understand they’re running a red light because they speed up as if the devil is after them. I guess they think they have to get through the red light before it’s TOO red. Or something. When five of them do it, it really makes you shake your head and mutter, What the hell?
Lynn, yes, it’s annoying, but I’m okay with going in the store. So if they all want to wait and wait and wait in the express lane, that means the inside of the store is clear sailing. I just want quick service. But I don’t know what’s so hard to understand about express. It would be nice if the store would enforce their express line rule.
