They are probably thinking something on the lines of.... We deserve what we get, after all of this sheet. Sigh.
my word is Saturn. Have the found life out there yet? I wanna go!
I didn’t watch the convention last night. It was bad enough reading about Fred, Joe, and Dubya. I haven’t even been able to bring myself to watch Joe’s speech on You Tube. I might need one or three margaritas before I could stand it.
Haven’t seen any pictures of Cindy yet today. Not sure I can stomach that, either.
I’m *almost* tempted to watch the convention tonight, just to see what Sarah does and how she displays her family. Not sure I will, though. Just thinking about it makes me feel like I need a bath.
Bleh. This whole thing is nauseating.
James Wolcott has a blog post today that says just about everything I’ve been thinking the last day or two. I think it’s quite good.
J, Saturn is a little too close to the neighbohood. Think different galaxy. The ones who want to burn up the earth can stay here and slowly boil like little frogs.
Sad to say, the world already knows that we’ve lost our collective senses. The 2004 election, when we had the opportunity to partially right the wrong perpetrated by the Supreme Court in 2000, clearly demonstrated it.
Anything other than a convincing Obama victory in November will reinforce that impression. And (heaven forfend) a McCain-Palinsomebody win would justify the world demanding that this nation be institutionalized to protect it from harming itself further.
I do believe Palin is going to be in for the lonnnng haul. Her son-in-law-to-be was unveiled on the tarmac today with photos of John McCain giving him a manly grasp on the arm. Gah! What a bunch of scumsuckers. They’re USING those kids for political gain. That’s low. Beneath contempt.
Maybe we deserve to be institutionalized. Or at least a good shunning. The sooner the better. This nuttiness is beginning to look contagious.
I think in this election we have the chance to make history . . . or to repeat it.
I just sent money to the Obama Campaign. I am still trying to come to grips with what I saw and heard last night. I would not want to meet Sarah Palin in an alley I can tell you. They exploited her kids for all it was worth and featured the new baby. Oh yes they did.......first pregnant daughter was holding him, then surprise, surprise Cindy McCain was holding him and then Daddy - and she talked about having a special needs child and how she will fight for the rights of parents with children facing special challenges. All so scripted and well, made me want to gag. She presented her speech perfectly....I read somewhere this morning “in a Ronald Reagan fashion” down home and folksy--yes I suppose it was if you can banish the thought of her with an assault rifle pointed at you out of your mind.
Oh and then there was Romney’s speech. He has put on weight and has let his temples go silvery again.....read his speech if you can - you will choke. Guiliani should be tarred and feathered.
I did not sleep well last night, one hopes the voting public is smarter than they think they are. I just don’t know.......
OH, and now any attack on her is considered sexist. Funny, this about a woman who said Hilary was a whiner when she complained about getting the hard questions. Funny, isn’t it. So anything anyone throws at this one will quickly be characterized as unfair, sexist....... I am sputtering, cannot even coordinate my thoughts this morning I am so upset!!
I neither listened nor watched the convention last night. Probably just as well or I wouldn’t have slept a wink, either. I’ll catch up on You Tube today. From what I hear, Sarah earned her name Sarah Barracuda fair and square. Mean, nasty, and sarcastic. Shades of Pat Buchanan in 1992, which is a convention that I watched from beginning to end and was utterly shocked out of my senses at the nastiness and divisiveness. Pat Buchanan and Newtie were suddenly the ugliest Americans I knew of. Apparently last night was a replay. I hope Hillary can’t restrain herself and goes after Ms Palin with a two by four and a buzz saw.
Palin would probably fight for the rights of parents of special needs children like she fought for unwed mothers in Alaska—by cutting funding to programs providing services and help. And it’s not like she didn’t have enough pork to spend.
They’ve exploited all the kids and especially Bristol and Levi. I doubt these kids even know what’s hit them. As I said, I don’t have much respect for Sarah. Or any at all, at this point. She’s all about Sarah and that’s about it.
Obama got some money from me this morning, too. Sounds like donations have been pouring in during the last 12 hours.
Oh...has Sarah answered *any* hard questions yet? She must not be good at it...she’s refused to cooperate with the investigation in Alaska, claiming executive privilege. What a surprise.
The things I am hearing tonight as I channel surf.......Obama up in Iowa by 15 points; donations pouring into his campaign; backlash against the MC-PA ticket from her attack on the media; women are enjoying her but due to her stance on abortion in ALL instances except where the mother’s life is threatened, they do not plan on voting for her. Only time will tell.
Stock market tanked again today which means investors are uneasy and obviously not terribly optimistic after last night.
OH and I heard that her speech was written weeks ago for a nameless MALE VP pick and was “tarted” up (my word!) to make it more feminine for her and to add personal touch.......I don’t know about the feminine part. My husband and several other men I know just shudder when you mention her name. Think she is hard as nails and nothing warm and fuzzy about her. LOL
I have decided to watch the football game tonight and not McCain. I guess a long video about his military background and time as a POW first. I am sorry but I absolutely have had enough of the POW card. I get it. WE get it. He was an incredibly brave man, no doubt about it, he was an honorable man, no doubt about it, but that was then, this is now and I want something a little more relevant to my life thank you very much.
Soapbox is for anyone who wants it. I’m done. Oh and love it, my word?? WHATEVAH!! Just perfect!!
You have the right idea, Cyn. Football is better for your blood pressure. I just tuned in to listen to the convention and after the first paragraph out of Lindsay Graham’s mouth, I yelled unbecoming things and shut it off. That man is vile and he needs to be tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail. NOW!
God, these people hate everyone and everything, except war. But, I guess tonight must be war night because it’s John McCain’s night and all he’s got is POW, POW, POW, POW. I hear there’s a special video to tell us all about it, in case we missed it the first 500 times.
I really hope rational people are fed up to the eyeballs with all this war stuff—both military and culture. What the heck are the Republicans so angry about? They’ve had the White House for the last 8 years and the Congress for 6 of those 8 years. They got two of their own on the Supreme Court. They have their wars and tax cuts and all the other money they’ve wanted. So what are they so pissed about? What is their deal?! They still wouldn’t be happy if we all dropped stone cold dead tomorrow and got out of their way. They’d have to invent an enemy because they need one. They’re just not happy people.
I stole this from a commentor on a blog I read. You will ove it:
“Jesus was a Community Organizer, and Pontias Pilate was a Governor.”
Yes, that did make me smile, Annie. What exactly is it about being a Community Organizer that would make a Governor sneer? I think the Governor ought to re-familiarize herself with The Beatitudes.

Slow day at work so decided to visit you instead!
Temper? Well supposedly he canceled a scheduled appearance on Larry King because of some interview he did not like, with one of his campaign workers. Just heard the bare bones of that one, so don’t know the whole story. One can only hope he has a complete meltdown and soon.
BTW, did you happen to see Cindy McCain last night. What the hell did they do to her. I never thought she was over the top attractive, but looked like a total frump with that hairdo and the dress. GIve me a break, puffy short sleeves? Shades of Betty Crocker or something. Guess we know who they are trying to appeal to. Cannot wait to see how they dude up Sarah. YIKES
Watching Lieberman last night made my skin crawl. Well he has always affected me that way. Do not ask why, but I always think when I see him that if a coconut could talk it would look and sound like him. I said DON’T ASK WHY!!;) I have no clue, but that is always my first thought.
And I am totally with you about him out there with a tin cup some day--you are far more generous than I would be. He’d be lucky to get a pencil in his tin cup from me. I could not help thinking of the song, “looking for love in all the wrong places” while listening to him last night cause surely he is and no one seems to reciprocate. He has to know they are only using him to try and get votes--oh well, I suppose some love is better than no love at all.
The only good thing about other countries is they all thought we had lost our minds with the nonsense over Bill and Monica, so at least their opinion won’t change drastically..........
OK, duty calls, back to work........
