Have consumed about a gallon of cranberry juice so far and the occasional glass of water with a half teaspoon of baking soda which relieves symptoms. I am sloshing.
Was given big horse pills today. They’re not quick workers...more the slow and steady types. Some improvement on that front and eating A LOT of yogurt on another. Ya gotta kill the patient to cure the ailment!
Do you know the name of that OTC medication?
I hope you’re feeling better.
Your last line in the comment above ("the name of that OTC medication") reminds me of an old Bill Cosby sketch where he’s suffering from migraine or something and runs into the pharmacy and yells “Hey druggist! Gimme some Midol, and it’s for me!”
To which the druggist responds, “I don’t care; lotta weird guys come in here.”
ow! hope you are on the mend. i was going to say cranberry, but someone already suggested that. sometimes if you are prone to frequent uti’s the doc will give you and antibiotc stash to keep at home.
Yep, I’m much improved today. It makes quite a difference in one’s outlook on life.
Linkmeister, Midol would be useful to just about anyone in pain. I suppose there are some men who, given a choice between Midol and nothing, might choose nothing and grit their manly teeth stoically. ;)
Annie, thankfully I’m not prone to them and my doc is pretty stingy with her scripts. It would have saved me (and many others) a lot of discomfort to have some on hand. In the interests of not over-medicating ourselves with antibiotics, I suppose it’s a good rule. Inconvenient sometimes, but good. It did make me wonder, though, how women managed before the advent of antibiotics. I don’t recall ever reading that kidney disease was a leading cause of death among women yet, it seems to me, in preceding eras where hygiene was a great deal less advanced than now, there must have been millions of infections per year that depended on luck or home remedies.
Honestly, no I do not know the name of the OTC stuff, but I do know it is something that not all that many years ago (well, at least it seems not that long) was prescription only. Next time you go to the pharmacy, ask. Might be good to keep on hand at least and until you see your doctor??

LOTS of cranberry juice, otc medication until you get to the doctor. One of the more common meds is now otc and not prescription!
