We're going to have weather
I hadn’t paid that much attention to what the storm is supposed to bring us overnight. The last I looked, this afternoon, we were supposed to receive a piddly little 2-4 inches of mixed snow and sleet. Much more of a nuisance than anything exciting.
A couple of hours ago, my neighbor called to inquire about something and, as an aside, wondered what I thought of the storm coming? Not much, I replied. Doesn’t look like it’ll amount to much.
She laughed and said I ought to check the forecast again. I guess we’re up to a forecast of 10 inches of snow now. Well, I’ll believe it when I see it. If we get more or less, I won’t be in the least surprised. Our weather forecasters are so consistently wrong that the very best weather report comes from looking out the window. So, I’ll do that in the morning and let ya know. My snow shovel is by the door, ready to go. I kind of hope I won’t need it, but just thinking that probably assures that I will. Winter definitely has early designs on us this year.
Last year, on this date, our high temperature was 46° and our low was 36°. Today (25°) we didn’t even come close to reaching last year’s low temperature. It’s been rather unseasonable brisk around here that last couple of days. Come to think of it, I can’t remember the last time we had measurable snow in the first week of December.
