We sell a lot of these kinds of things (cant think of the brand) at work. They sell by the dozens lol, and people buy them for people who work out side all day during the winter. They swear by them. They come in a plastic bag if that helps, if you go to look for them.
Harry, that’s exactly what I did last night. I burrowed under a down throw comforter and watched a movie (The Last King of Scotland). Three quarters of the way into that I forgot about cold. Yeesh, what a fantastic, yet horrible movie. Forest Whitaker was terrifying.
J, I looked over there and there were about 18 bins filled with various makes, models, and styles. All were in plastic bags. I know enough to avoid the 100% cotton ones. They aren’t warm enough. The only women’s sizes were in that cotton waffle weave. The microfiber might be the ticket. (My microfiber socks are the warmest darned things. They’re amazing—very thin and silky and like little blast furnaces.) The men’s sizes were made of that, I think, but they also came in 3 different weights. At $20-$25 a whack, that doesn’t leave a lot of room for experimenting. The only ones left were large and extra large, though.

Seems to me that if you’re cold when you stop, then the solution is to just keep a few down comforters around your favorite resting places, and hunker down under one of those. I love the feeling of being under a blanket or comforter.
