90 Percent Project - Week 24

My Weekly Values for the 90 Percent Project. Thought I’d get it posted and out of the way a little earlier than I normally do. It was a pretty good week.

Electricity
Week 24: 24 kWh

Hmmm. At this rate it would take me 5,347 weeks (102.8 years) to use 440,000 gallons of water (that the guy in Atlanta used in 4 weeks, fer example...).

My math is correct, right?

Natural Gas
Week 24: 4 CCF

Natural gas is going to be my waterloo, I’m beginning to think. Since June, I’ve already used slightly more than the 90% project’s yearly allotment. I do have a whole year to figure out how to cut it back (and I have, according to my monthly statements), but I’m having one heck of a time doing it. Nothing I try seems to get my weekly use below 3 or 4 CCF. Why, Why, WHY???

This week, I used my oven at 350° for one hour. But, I also did NOT turn up the water heater on two days and, instead of using the washing machine, I did a couple of small loads of handwash with hot water from the wood stove. I washed ME with hot water from the woodstove on two days. I also cooked almost all of my meals on the wood stove. And, it goes without saying, I didn’t use my furnace. So one hour of oven use minus the things that I normally use, still increased my CCF over last week? How does this happen?!

I am so blasted frustrated!!

Did not need to go marketing this week. I still have an abundance of produce and made a couple of lovely large pots of stew and soup on the wood stove. It has smelled so good in here!
