To waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining, in the days of our children, the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed. ~Theodore Roosevelt

I happened to glance out the back door and noticed a lot of water in the bucket that Terry used to use as a drinking trough. I’d just emptied it out a couple of days ago, so I know there was no water in it. Today, however, there is a whole lot of water. I just stuck a ruler inside and it came up to the 7 inch mark. So. Is a bucket a reliable vessel for a rain gauge? Because if it is, we had a lot more rain yesterday than has been reported. Most of the local weather reporting stations have said they only received about an inch and a half of rain yesterday. I find that hard to believe considering the constant pounding we had. My bucket certainly says we had more than an inch and a half. Couldn’t have been just my neighborhood that got rained on.
