Well gosh. They did it! Congrats Red Sox! How utterly cool you guys are.
Didja stay awake, Cyn? ;)
I didn’t, I fell asleep. I think around 10:30- 10:45 or so
But I jsut knew they would do it lol.
It started getting just a little tense around the 7th and 8th innings. I wasn’t sure. Even the announcers mentioned that if they lost last night, they’d be able to come home and win. Well, that was true, but I’m awfully glad it ended the way it did.
No, not true.
If they’d lost last night, Beckett would have clinched it this evening. In Denver.
The WS homegame rotation goes 2-3-2.
Well, that’s interesting. I’m sure that’s what I heard one of the announcers say last night. It seemed to take the edge off the tense situation. Turned out quite well, though.
Alright, baseball trivia guy...I read someplace last night (I think it was Wikipedia) that some think The Curse was broken in August of 2004 when Manny Ramirez hit a foul ball out into the Fenway stands someplace, knocking two teeth out of a young lad who lived in Babe Ruth’s old home in Sudbury. Curse breaking effects aside, is that an urban legend or true story?
The “Curse” was invented to sell newspapers, but the Manny foulball/Sudbury house story appears to be true. At least, if you believe what you read in The Globe.
I hadn’t heard that one before. Apparently I really did have things other than baseball on my mind in the late summer and fall of 2004. As a very good friend in Corvallis (who grew up in CT and is a diehard citizen of Red Sox Nation) said, he was only really able to celebrate that win for a week because of what happened on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
This year, though, he’ll have a good bit more wiggle-room before the big political season hits.
Oh yes, I stayed up til the very end (YAY,rah, rah!!) and then watched most of the celebrations........was in the grocery store today and had a fit of yawning, could not stop, drove home and all I could think about was closing my eyes, just for a minute or two.........but then had to run up to NH to do two errands and then we went out to dinner (I refused to cook) and now all I can think about is closing my eyes for a while.......;) After all this excitement, what do we do for an encore? Bruins seem like a better team, and of course we have the PATS, but really.........there is sort of a letdown tonight!! Or I am just really, really tired. LOL I am so glad you caved and were able to join in.!

having grown up in the Berkshires, I think I say it the same way you do/did!! I know some words come out of my mouth like a proper Bostonian (after all I have lived in the Boston area for over 40 years) but others are pure Berkshires!!
Hope you caught the PATS game too. They are something else. What fun. Love watching them go to work week after week!!
Score is 1-0 right now, am hoping I can stay awake tonight. Too many late nights watching and last night we had a big party (planned well before the playoffs started) so it turned into a Red Sox party. The last few stragglers left around 1:30AM and at 3:30AM I threw in the towel (literally) and went to bed...all was well in Red Sox Nation.........but tonight the accumulation of lots of late games along with last night is catching up with me and my eyes are getting ssoooooooooo heavy!! ;)
