Stupid post office

The US Postal Service and I do have our problems. Not too long ago, I changed my address from a private mail box to my street address. For the most part, that has worked out quite well. But, as always happens, there is mail that trickles in to the old address. And that is where the change of address form comes in handy. I filled one out at my main post office in town. The post master handed me the form and assured me all would be taken care of.

Well, it wasn’t. Much to my surprise (and the private mail box company’s surprise) the mail man from that town returned my change of address form, to them, and said they no longer provide mail forwarding service. The private mail box company called me bright and early this morning to tell me that I have mail to pick up. I don’t know what exactly, but it’s there waiting for me.

The post office doesn’t do mail forwarding anymore? Since when? That will be news to my postmaster.

Why in heaven’s name is mail such a problem in my life? I don’t understand it.
