You beat me to it, Linky! I was going to refer to Manny Ramirez, but with the very same thought.
To Kate—ibuprophen is your friend.
I’ve been very good friends with ibuprofen the last couple of days. Also a moist heating pad. I can never remember whether that or ice is the appropriate treatment, but the moist heat surely felt good. I’m not sure of the current state of Manny Ramirez’s obliques, but if damaged, I feel very sorry for him.
Manny’s strained oblique kept him out of every Bosox game between August 28 and September 25. After missing that month, though, he’s been outrageously hot against the Angels (3 for 8, 2 homers, 5 walks, 4 RBIs) and the Indians (8 for 17, 1 double, 2 homers, 6 walks, 8 RBIs ... so far).
Hopefully, it’ll be less than a month before you’re playing at that sort of level.
Ah well. I hope he stays hot. The Sox have a bit of an uphill slog to go. But they’re home and that should help. Fingers crossed for great playing Saturday night.

Obligatory lemonade from lemons comment:
The next time you read about an athlete who’s going to miss the next game with a strained oblique, you’ll be able to say “Hey! I know what that feels like!”
