My long time soul kitty, Muddy, was an ‘on top of my back’ sleeper, too. Over the years, we got the rolling over in the night procedure down to an art. She learned to roll with me. After a roll, she switched to an ‘on top of the hip’ sleeper. I still miss the feel of a cat sleeping on me. When Muddie died it was a double feeling of loss. Abbie is simply not a lap, back, or hip kind of cat.
I got a chuckle out of your kitty throwing herself against you. Abbie does that, too. I mean, she literally throws herself against me so hard that I’ve had to learn to make sure there are no elbows or knees sticking out for her to throw herself against. After the first couple of times of that (and I know that had to hurt), I adjusted to her habits. Funny how we adjust to their habits instead of the other way around.

I chuckled when I read the above. Our first cat had a habit of curling up in the middle of my back when I was sleeping and fool that I was, I would often stay in that position rather than disturb him. Of course, sleeping on your stomach is something supposedly you should not do! This one however, does as Abbie does, plasters herself against me (and yes, on top of the blankets). If I move--and I do, she stands up, stretches and then basically throws herself against me and stays tight until I move and disturb her again. Tonight she is curled up on the couch, close enough to know when I get ready to go upstairs so she can go with me. I guess cats are all about rituals!!
