Cell phone boo-boo

So there I was on the busy, busy road by the river, coming back home from taking the lad to work. It’s Sunday and the traffic is fierce today. I came around a slight bend in the road in time to see a bright shiny and probably brand new bronzy SUV backing out into the street. The driver in all her blond ringlets, deep tan, and two inch shocking pink nails had her cell phone glued to her ear as she eased back out into the street with one hand on the wheel. I saw it coming and it’s pretty clear that she didn’t. There was a loud crash as someone ran into her back end. Why? Because she backed out in front of the car without a backwards or sideways glance. I’d like to say that she dropped her cell phone right away, but she didn’t.

Inasmuch as traffic came to an abrupt stop, I had the opportunity to watch what happened next. As soon as she finished her phone conversation, of course.

Well, what else would she do but start to cry. Her beautiful car was crumpled and the idiot who hit her should have been looking where she was going.

My goodness. The woman who hit her wasn’t in the least moved by the tears. She had detected the cell phone, though. Harsh words were exchanged along with the pertinent information. Somebody didn’t have a good Sunday. I wonder if the teary cell phone woman ever made a connection between her cell phone and her crumpled back end. She had so not been paying attention to what she was doing.

We have had quite a lot of helicopter traffic to-ing and fro-ing, north to south today. Some have been news copters and others of a military type. So, I’m guessing that Mr. Putin must have made it to Walker’s Point today. The sky has been kind of noisy. It’s funny, I heard a blurb on the radio last night about the compound at Walker’s Point. The guy talking about it said it was a small house. Made me wonder what he thought big was like.
