Last night quittin’ time turned out to be midnight again. It was supposed to be much earlier, but there was a large wedding party so one stays until the work is done. He had a 12 hour day.
Cyn, I’d be willing to share my car if the lad would just get his license. I don’t understand it, but he hasn’t the slightest bit of interest. His Dad and I have both told him he HAS to get his license this summer. We insist.
Carpooling doesn’t appear to be an option since none of his coworkers are from here.
Things might change a little bit next week. His boss gave him a raise and a promotion yesterday. He’ll be doing different work for the rest of the summer, most of it requiring a regular day schedule. He’s as happy as a clam. Loves working there.
He has no interest in getting a drivers license?
Tell him he’s not living up to the American teenage ideal. George Lucas encapsuled this in American Graffiti; maybe you should rent it for him?
Which is not to say he’ll find Suzanne Somers in a red Corvette once he gets the license.
In 75 days he won’t be a teen anymore. I think he missed that boat.
But there is this lovely young woman with a white convertible who loves to chauffeur him around.
When I was nagging at him the other day about getting his license, he turned to me and said, “you’re the one who’s always telling me that people drive too much and we’re running out of oil. I’m not going to need a license in a few years.”
That’s an example of being rendered speechless.

Hmm. Maybe I’ll give up my car.
that has to be a first--parents insisting son get a license!!! Hey, he may have a point--in a few years we will all be walking anyway. Or riding horses (now that idea I LOVE). He is amazing, but then the chauffer may be part of the reason........
The pretty girl in the white convertible doesn’t do anything to encourage license acquisition, true enough. But he still wasn’t too interested before that. It’s just unAmerican I tells ya.

Can you share a car with him? Or could he carpool with someone? That has to be difficult, I don’t envy you!!
