Happy household

It’s a good Thursday morning when I remember to put my trash and recycling out by the street before the trucks arrive. Not infrequently I’ve been seen racing up the street with bags in tow. Not today. Everything was out by 8 AM. That puts me in a very good mood. It’s hard to explain why such a simple thing should add such quality to my day or why such a simple chore should be like a trip to the dentist. Everyone must have those couple of chores that we put off and put off until the very last minute. Taking out trash (and the recycling) and emptying the dishwasher are mine.

Oddly enough, the recycling truck hasn’t arrived yet. It’s almost always here by 8:15 AM. Figures, right?

To add bounty to my day the sun is shining and the sky is a deep blue. No clouds and, as an added bonus, the thermometer crawled above 60° a couple of hours ago and is currently parked at 66. We’re having an honest to goodness spring day. Imagine! Sunshine and warmth all at the same time!

And guess what? My grass is growing. Sure, that’s about as exciting or newsworthy as it gets. But that means I get to go out and play with my lawnmower sometime today. I’m going to assume it will start up without a cough or a sputter on the first try. It’s electric, not a gas powered one. That has to be a check mark in my favorables column. It has been well established by now that gasoline powered tools and I mix about as well as oil and water.

Meanwhile Terry and Abbie have both been fed and they are supremely happy. Terry knows I’m thinking about her because her tail just started thumping. Actually, I think I’m talking out loud as I type and she heard her name. Anyway, seems to be a pretty happy household this morning all around. Sometimes it’s just the little things that do it.

Oh, and my spell check found no errors. I’m on a roll.
