Cider Press Hill

Still here

The storm is mostly over now and the winds have died down a bit. It was wild around here last night. I had water pouring in around my inside northeast-facing front door. I expected that. Despite a storm door, weather stripping, and a relatively tight fit, the doors are just not up to withstanding projectile rain coming at them with 50+ mile per hour winds. But no lasting damage for me. And no other water damage that I can find. I’m lucky.

A couple of the neighbors are short quite a few roofing shingles this morning. One lost most of the roof on his side porch. It’s laying in pieces in the side yards of a couple of other neighbors.

I’m about to head out with my camera to see what’s going on around town. Word has it that the ocean breached the dunes out on Plum Island. I doubt that I’ll be able to get out there, but I’ll try. Some of the businesses along the harbor were damaged and the ocean was tearing up the parking lots and carrying them away. Docks are gone and that’s just what I’ve heard by word of mouth this morning. It’ll be interesting to see with my own eyes.

Later…
